Maryam Zaree (*1983, Teheran) grew up in Frankfurt am Main and studied acting at Film University Babelsberg. She was last seen in the television series 4 Blocks (Director: Marvin Kren, 2017), in the cinematic film Transit (Director: Christian Petzold, 2018), as well as in guest performances at various theaters. She is also active as an author and director, receiving the 2017 Heidelberger Stückemarkt Authors Award with Kluge Gefühle and the 2018 Grimme-Prize for her acting performance in 4 Blocks. Her directing debut Born in Evin celebrated its premiere at the 2019 Berlinale and won the Compass-Perspektive-Award for best film in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino program.
